Kevin Sheedy has made his second signing in 24-hours after Adam O’Reilly joined Waterford from Preston North End.
An Ireland underage international, the 19-year-old Cork man has joined the Blues on loan until the end of June
Midfielder O’Reilly made his Championship debut for Preston as a 17-year-old in a 2018 draw with Aston Villa but that remains his only first-team appearance for his parent club.
New Waterford boss and ex-Ireland star Sheedy said: “Adam is a great addition to the team already in place. We’re delighted to have him here and I think he’ll be someone that stands out over the coming weeks.”
Yesterday, Waterford signed Swansea City defender Cameron Evans on loan until the summer.
He made his Swans first-team debut last month when starting the FA Cup third round win over Stevenage.
Elsewhere, Taner Dogan is back at Dundalk having spent the second-half of last season on loan with Athlone Town.
But the American midfielder, 22, has since received a work permit and wants to make an impression at Oriel Park.
A Harvard University graduate, Dogan said: “I gained valuable League of Ireland experience last year with Athlone Town and I’m excited to continue my development.”
Bray Wanderers have signed former Gillingham, Newport County and Barnet midfielder Mark Byrne.
The 32-year-old returned home to Ireland last season with Shelbourne but the Reds were relegated and will battle with Bray for promotion this year.
The Seagulls have also snapped up midfielder Darren Craven from Malahide United while young Dundalk defender Andrew Quinn has signed on loan until July.
