Waterford sign Oscar Brennan from Shelbourne

Waterford have signed Oscar Brennan ahead of the new Premier Division season.

The midfielder - who can also play in defence - helped Shelbourne win promotion in 2019 but was a free agent following their relegation in 2020.

Brennan was at Bohemians and Cabinteely before that and had been training with the First Division club of late.

But the Blues have pounced for the 24-year-old as former Ireland international Kevin Sheedy continues to shape his new-look squad.

Brennan said: "I'm delighted to be here. As soon as I knew there was a bit of interest, I was keen to come down.

“It didn't take long to sort something out. I'm really hoping to help the team in any way I can and help the side push on from last season.”

Brennan continued: "I was in last week a little bit and then Saturday but today was my first real day.

“It's pre-season so it's tough. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to getting back in tomorrow and to keep the momentum going.

"We've had a long break during the off-season but I've looked after myself over Christmas, doing my own little bits at home and doing my own runs and stuff like that.

"It's my first experience playing full-time so it's a little bit different training in the mornings, but it's so enjoyable spending full days training at this pace.”
