When a man selling bottled drinking water on a train was seen demanding that seated passengers move somewhere else so he could make use of the space it did not go down well with social media.
The vendor claimed he had rented the space from the State Railway of Thailand, so had the right to use it, and challenged passengers to ask the SRT governor if they did not believe him.
He then placed a wooden board across the two facing seats and placed his bottled water on it.
The incident happened on Bangkok-Nong Khai rapid passenger train No.75 when it arrived at Ayutthaya station on Tuesday morning and the vendor boarded it.
A video of the disturbance was posted on Facebook, and quickly drew heavy criticism from online users. In the video many passengers were seen standing in the carriage.
The clip was widely shared.
Facebook user Ou Suttisak, who posted the clip, doubted whether passenger seat space could be rented for vending purposes, and wondered who authorised it.
The water seller was bombarded with harsh criticism over his actions, with netizens doubting whether the SRT was aware of the "rent" he supposedly paid.
