Water shortages anticipated in East Ayrshire with bottled water to be handed out due to heatwave

Private water supplies in East Ayrshire are drying up due to the current heatwave.

It's understood that households could face water shortages, according to the council.

The local authority has said that bottled water will be issued to anyone experiencing water supply issues.

However the water will be for human consumption only.

A spokesperson for East Ayrshire Council: "East Ayrshire Council is aware that in the current weather conditions users of Private Water Supplies may experience water shortages due to supplies drying up.

"In these circumstances PWS users should contact the Council's Environmental Health Service on 01563 576790 and arrangements will be made to supply bottled water until such time as the normal supply is restored.

"Please note that water will be made available for human consumption only."
