MURRURUNDI is expected to slash its water restrictions on Friday as a pipeline designed to deliver water to the Upper Hunter town is unveiled.
Upper Hunter Shire Council said it plans to reduce the level six water restrictions, among the harshest in the state, to level two as the infrastructure eases the supply woes that have plagued the town.
The change would mean Murrurundi residents could water lawns and gardens in mornings and evenings every second day.
The same restrictions stand in Aberdeen and Scone, while level one restrictions in Cassilis and Merriwa are akin to those Hunter Water has imposed on its lower Hunter network including Maitland and Newcastle.
That network's water storage has climbed to 67.1 per cent overall, up 0.7 per cent on a week earlier and 0.4 per cent higher than the same period last year, after rain across the region earlier this week.
