Watchmen season 2 unlikely as creator Damon Lindelof 'not interested' in making more episodes

A second season of the hit HBO series Watchmen is unlikely to happen, it has emerged, after creator Damon Lindelof expressed his lack of interest in making more episodes.

The superhero series, which was adapted from the comics into a drama about race and the criminal justice system, was hugely popular with viewers – many of whom felt bereft when the first season’s nine-episode run ended in December.

However, Lindelof told USA Today that he has told the story he wants to tell and has no interest in a second season, though he gave his blessing to HBO should the network want to pursue a new season with another writer-producer.

Sadly for fans this is unlikely to happen, as HBO programming chief Casey Bloys said: “It would be hard to imagine doing it without Damon involved in some way.”

Watchmen starred Regina King as a masked cop in Tulsa, in a 2019 when Robert Redford is president.

Lindelof was also behind hit shows Lost and The Leftovers. His next project is forthcoming film The Hunt, which he co-wrote with his long-time collaborator Nick Cuse.
