Watching Steph Curry hit a long-distance 3-pointer off a screen reminds James Wiseman of NBA 2K

It’s rare for a top draft pick to be selected by a team that features multiple All-Stars and a two-time Most Valuable Player.

Yet, that’s the case for James Wiseman. After landing with the Warriors in the 2020 NBA draft, the No. 2 overall pick will link up with his new teammate Stephen Curry.

After missing the opening of his rookie training camp due to reportedly testing positive for COVID-19, the Memphis product was able to return to Warriors practice this week. With his debut at practice in the books, Wiseman was asked if he’s had a “wow moment” yet.

In a post-practice press conference with members of the media, The 19-year-old mentioned playing alongside Curry as his “wow moment.”

A lot of Steph [Curry] plays. When he comes off a screen and the shot be like 30 feet out, and he be making it all net. That’s crazy to me. It’s just like 2K, basically. It’s kind of crazy.

In Golden State’s final two preseason games of the 2020 slate, Curry’s “2K” like shooting was on full display. Scoring 29 points in back-to-back tilts against the Sacramento Kings, Curry drilled 11 3-pointers in a two-game stretch.

Over his 11 seasons in the NBA, Curry is shooting 43.5% from beyond the arc on 8.2 3-point attempts per contest.

Wiseman could have the opportunity to suit up with the five-time All-Star point guard in-game action for the first time when the Warriors travel to Brooklyn on Tuesday, Dec. 22 for an opening night matchup with Kevin Durant and the Nets.
