Watching England footballers do WWE wrestling moves is absolutely hilarious

The England men’s team are preparing for one of the biggest games of their lives on Wednesday when they take on Denmark at Wembley in a semi-final of Euro 2020.

The Three Lions have been impressive for the entire tournament, maintaining a clean sheet in every game so far and even beating Ukraine 4-0 on the way to the semis.

You would think by now that nerves would have begun to settle in as the match looms on the horizon presenting England with a chance to play in a major tournament final for the first time since 1966.

However, that doesn’t appear to be the case at all. A video released on the official England account on Sunday shows how the squad were recovering from Saturday’s match in Rome against Ukraine and, needless to say, it’s all very relaxed.

The highlight of the nearly 5-minute clip comes at the end where a few of the players are larking about in a swimming pool. Scenes include Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka riding an inflatable unicorn and the 19-year-old also having his ears flicked after failing some sort of heading routine. Poor guy...

However, the main event features the midfield duo of Declan Rice and Mason Mount wrestling an inflatable shark. Rice, who seems particularly clued up on his wrestling knowledge commentates as both he and Mount perform a move known as a ‘spear’ on the inflatable toy.

“And it’s Edge. He’s coming off the top rope!” shouts the West Ham midfielder, paying tribute to the WWE legend Edge, one of the best-known wrestlers associated with the move. Edge, real name, Adam Copeland was indeed impressed as he retweeted the video adding “Go get em lads” along with the Three Lions and England flag emoji.

This comes after AEW, another wrestling company in the US, said that they were supporting the England team after Saka and Jadon Sancho were pictured wearing the AEW Championship belt.

From an England perspective, we hope that this is the extent of their wrestling antics as we strongly doubt that this sort of stuff would fly on the football pitch. Keep your shoulders to yourself, lads.

England or Denmark will learn how they will face in Sunday’s final when Italy take on Spain in the other semi-final, which takes place on Tuesday evening.
