SCOTLAND'S police regulator has said it is examining the contact Police Scotland had with a woman before she was killed.
Vikki Soloman, 44, is believed to have been murdered by her former partner, 46-year-old Lee Greenan.
She died on the evening of Monday July 20.
Greenan was arrested in connection with her death and was found dead in his cell at HMP Edinburgh the following Sunday.
On Thursday, the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (Pirc) said it is investigating police contact which took place prior to Ms Solomon’s death.
Raymond Brown, head of investigations at Pirc, said: “Our thoughts are with all of those who have been affected following the tragic death of 44-year-old Vikki Soloman in Edinburgh on July 20.
“We are investigating the police contact that was made prior to this date and will report our findings to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in due course.”
Soloman’s family previously said it was a “bitter blow” to have learned the alleged killer died in prison before justice could be served, and said they are “determined to pursue justice” for her.
Soloman was found with serious injuries by emergency services at a house on Craigievar Square, Edinburgh, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A family statement released through Police Scotland said: “Following the heartbreaking loss of Vikki Soloman, her family is deeply moved and overwhelmed by the wave of love and supportive messages which brings great comfort at this devastating time.
“The community’s solidarity provides the family great strength as they feel the profound loss and grief of losing Vikki, taken so young and in such tragic circumstances.
“The loss of a devoted mother has left an irreplaceable loss.
“Furthermore, news of the passing of Lee Greenan, the man charged with her murder, is another bitter blow to the family. The family remains determined to pursue justice for Vikki.
“Their primary focus now is on her two children and they are committed to ensuring they are safe, supported and surrounded by their mother’s lasting legacy of love.”
