Watch Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sinisa Mihajlovic duet at Italian music festival as Milan superstar reveals motorbike arrival

Milan superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic took to the stage alongside Bologna boss Sinisa Mihajlovic as the pair belted out an Italian pop-rock classic.

The Swedish striker has been a special guest all week at the Sanremo music festival, which doubles as both an awards ceremony and a song contest.

It’s being held for the first time without an audience this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, with audiences watching on television and live stream.

The 39-year-old striker turned up late to proceedings, explaining from the stage that he’d been forced to hitchhike.

He said: “There was an accident on the motorway. After three hours in the car I told my driver to open the door to let me out.

“I stopped a motorcyclist and asked him, can you take me to Sanremo?

“Luckily he was a Milan fan. When we got here he told me, ‘that was my first time on the motorway’. I’ve got the video!

“I know you missed me yesterday but I’m back now. I was in Milan yesterday… although you could have come to me!

“We could have had the festival at mine. Rule number 4: if Zlatan can’t go to the festival, the festival must come to Zlatan.

“There’s room in Zlatan’s house.”

Zlatan and Aaron Hickey's club boss Mihajlovic eventually took to the stage for their duet, in one of the more odd sights you’ll see.

The pair are good friends, with Ibrahimovic stating he considered signing for Bologna after the coach’s leukaemia diagnosis.

They share Balkan roots, with Mihajlovic hailing from Serbia and the former Manchester United man born to a Bosnian father and Croat mother.

The two sang Nomadi’s ‘Io Vagabondo’, a 1972 ballad which has sold over one million copies in Italy.

The show’s artistic director Amadeeus explained: “Ibra was very keen to host Sinisa because of their friendship so we organised it.”

And speaking ahead of the performance, Nomadi founding member Beppe Carletti backed the pair.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: “We are happy and proud of it. I think it's the right song, Ibra and Mihajlovic are two vagabonds!”
