Will fans of the Boston Celtics ever get to see the full potential of All-Star forward Jayson Tatum? From the pandemic and COVID-19 to apathetic play, a number of obstacles have stood between the Duke product and his playing as his best self. While quite a bit has been due to matters beyond his control, it feels increasingly like there’s another gear or two left in Tatum’s game that he simply isn’t trying to get to according to some prominent analysts.
“Is he ever going to be great, or is he going to be one of those guys that the seeds are there,” asked The Ringer’s Bill Simmons on a recent episode of his eponymous podcast, “but does he get it, does he fully understand what he should be doing game to game?”
