Watch: Wes Phillips talks about his dad Wade, Rams coaching staff

The Los Angeles Rams made some changes to their coaching staff this offseason, as many teams do. They lost quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor to the Cincinnati Bengals as he was hired to be their head coach, continuing a trend of Sean McVay’s assistants being poached by other teams.

Shane Waldron moved to quarterbacks coach, Zac Robinson was hired to be an assistant and Wade Phillips’ son Wes was brought in as the tight ends coach. Wes Phillips is once again on a staff with his dad, which is a fun story.

While at the NFL combine, he talked about being hired by the Rams, saying he already feels “very close” to the rest of the coaches. He also said how he tells his mom not to laugh at Wade Phillips’ “dad jokes” because it only encourages him.

Phillips also said he got a Twitter account simply because everyone was asking him if he saw what his dad tweeted.

Phillips was previously with the Redskins and has a close relationship with McVay, having been on his staff in Washington before. He also spent time with the Cowboys while Wade Phillips was in Dallas.
