Watch: Were you there when U2 played King's Hall on their Joshua Tree Tour 33 years ago?

33 years ago, U2 played one of their biggest ever Belfast gigs, as part of their Joshua Tree Tour.

The Dublin four-piece performed at King's Hall in front of as many as 8,000 audience members.

The gig came at a time when U2's fame was at its height. Their Joshua Tree album was a critical and commercial success, and went on to sell more than 25 million copies.

On the night, the band performed 20 songs in total, with Bono giving a shout-out to the Belfast crowd and calling them "the best in the world".

Support on the night came from former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed.

The gig was documented in a BBC Radio Ulster feature, called The Unforgettable Gig - When U2 rocked the King's Hall, which aired in 2017.

The BBC also shared an archive video from the gig, speaking to audience members who are queueing ahead of the performance.

On their BBC Rewind website, they write: "In 1987, Ireland's biggest musical export, U2, rocked up to the hall at the height of their Joshua Tree fame. Ahead of the concert BBC Northern Ireland News cameras were there to capture the atmosphere."
