Watch video footage of the moment Binky the polar bear attacked Australian tourist

()

With the Associated Press releasing 1 million minutes of archive footage, described as the "the largest upload of historical news content on YouTube to date," there is a treasure trove of videos to discover.

Amongst the millions of minutes is footage from 1994 of the moment Australian tourist Kathryn Warburton carelessly jumped over safety rails at the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage to get a close-up photograph with Binky the polar bear.

In the end, the 29-year-old from Sydney got a bit too close to the bear, with Binky leaning forward and grabbing Warburton with his paws.

Binky is hit with a stick as people try to make the bear release Warburton from his grasp. Warburton suffered a broken leg and bite wounds and had to undergo surgery.

Binky kept hold of Warburton's shoe for three days before zoo staff could retrieve it back.

Binky made the news worldwide after the incident. He died a year later of liver failure.
