Watch: Video emerges of the Baker Mayfield and Richard Sherman handshake snub

Richard Sherman chastised Browns QB Baker Mayfield for snubbing him in the customary pregame handshake amongst team captains before Monday night’s game in San Francisco. Now a video has emerged that shows a more complete picture of the incident.

Found on the 49ers’ own Instagram page, a video of the handshake ritual at the coin toss shows that Sherman and Mayfield clearly did not shake hands or really greet one another. That much is clear.

However, Mayfield did shake hands and exchange greetings with the other 49ers captains, including a warm “bro hug” with tight end George Kittle. The interaction between Sherman and Mayfield is obscured by the other players on camera.

This changes the narrative a little and puts more of the emphasis on Sherman being a complicit partner in the refusal to shake hands. In making such a big deal of it after the game — a blowout win by his 49ers where the cornerback snagged an interception off Mayfield — Sherman reveals what seems to be an agenda against the brash young quarterback.

The video, via Twitter:

Mayfield greeted and embraced several 49ers following the game, including QB counterpart Jimmy Garoppolo.

UPDATE: Another video has surfaced, which clearly shows that Sherman and Mayfield did, in fact, shake hands before the game.
