The Beckhams are big fans of spending quality time together as a family, and it appears they have found a new way to pass the hours. In a video posted to Instagram by 20-year-old Cruz, Victoria Beckham sits cross-legged on the sofa in their Holland Park home, snapping her fingers to the intro of the 1997 Spice Girls tune Viva Forever as her cocker spaniels look on in bemusement. She is accompanied by Cruz on the acoustic guitar, before the pair burst into song, crooning in harmony.
At one point, David Beckham, who is filming the video, joins in, singing in a falsetto voice. While Victoria laughs and gets her own phone out to film David filming them, Cruz remains deadly serious, strumming away at his guitar with a frown of concentration. Perhaps the youngest Beckham son is spending more time at home – he was recently banned from driving after being caught speeding twice, in less than two years after passing his test.
Cruz is attempting to follow in his mother’s musical footsteps. He launched his fledgling music career last Christmas with a teaser video of himself singing a song called For Ya Love. The clip was met with mockery online and some said that his music was only getting attention because of his famous parents. “Jesus was also a nepo baby”, he clapped back in a now-deleted comment. The full song was never officially released.
In October he returned for real this time, releasing two songs on Spotify called “Lick the Toad” and “Optics”. They were described by NME as “trippy” and contain lyrics such as “I love me some mushrooms and good head / And the erotic 69”. The tracks were produced by Justin Raisen, who has worked with everyone from Charli xcx to Drake. Cruz also played a gig at The George Tavern in east London to 100 people. While his older brother Brooklyn often faces the mirth of the internet for his various misguided career choices, it appears Cruz is getting a warmer reception. “More talent than Brooklyn tbf”, reads a top comment on a TikTok video of Cruz opening for indie rock band The Royston Club on the London leg of their tour.

Singing duets with one’s parents at home in Notting Hill is not the typical vibe that an indie musician tries to curate. But it appears Cruz has decided that there’s no point trying to hide his origins. In the summer, Victoria posted a video of Cruz and David dueting Frank Sinatra’s Somethin’ Stupid on their yacht off the coast of Italy.
Embracing nepo baby status has worked for fellow aspiring pop star Romy Mars, the daughter of Sofia Coppola and Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars. Romy’s song A-lister has over 5 million streams on Spotify, where she sings about private jets, rubbing shoulders with Hollywood actors, and going from “riches to riches”.
Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple hard launched her music career by singing on a very Coldplay-esque song called Satellites with the band Jade Street. Chris Martin went to see Apple perform the song live at a bar in Nashville, where she attends university. If you can’t beat ‘em...
