Veronica Macedo isn’t paid by the hour. So, when she stepped into the cage to fight Polyana Viana at UFC on ESPN+ 14, she made sure to finish the fight as quickly as possible.
UFC on ESPN+ 14 took place Saturday at Antel Arena in Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay, and streamed live on ESPN+.
Just 69 seconds into the first round, Macedo (6-3-1 MMA, 1-3 UFC) submitted Viana (10-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) with a slick armbar. While she initially didn’t have the proper grip, Macedo made some adjustments which forced Viana to verbally submit.
According to the broadcast, the submission was the quickest in UFC women’s flyweight history. The bout between Macedo and Viana was the first UFC bout to take place in the country of Uruguay.
After three unsuccessful attempts to snag a UFC victory, the MMA Factory product Macedo finally checked off the box with the submission. Conversely, the loss for Viana was her third straight.
