It looked like the scene of a major event as police cars and an incident unit were spotted in Gosforth on Thursday.
But any passers-by making a closer inspection of what was going on in the Newcastle suburb would have noticed a giveaway sight: the familiar Land Rover driven by Brenda Blethyn in Vera.
The 4x4 was parked up in a residential street under the shade of tree on the sunny afternoon as cast and crew of the ITV crime drama were quietly at work filming the new series.
And the team were so low key that for once there was no crowd of onlookers.
Vera fans turn out in droves to watch the action whenever a new series is being made around the North East: the home turf for the long-running drama which stars Blethyn in the title role.
Filming for the new series, the 10th, got under way at the end of April, with See Vera filming in Gateshead as Brenda Blethyn heads to the gym in a Gateshead snooker centre on May 1 - again pretty much under the radar as it passed unnoticed to many people.
On Thursday, the action had moved to Gosforth , where Vera's Land Rover was parked outside a house in Moor Crescent, with more police vehicles and trucks parked on Westfield and Oaklands.
Among them was a forensic investigation unit van while another giveaway sign for anyone eagle-eyed was a notice in the window of one of the police cars which read ' Film and TV vehicle. Not in service'.
