Watch: Vandalism leaves trail of destruction in Co Antrim town

Residents of a Co Antrim town were left angry and frustrated after their planters and benches were tipped over and damaged in a wake of destruction in the main street.

Police confirmed they have received a number of reports of anti-social behaviour in Randalstown over the past few weeks.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "This has resulted in broken glass over the street and planters being knocked over.

"One young person was identified and has been dealt with by police.

"Please remember the hard work and effort that the local community has put into the town. Especially the volunteers of Tidy Randalstown in making it stand out for all the right reasons."

Councillor Glenn Finlay notified the council and work has now taken place to repair the damage.

he said: "It's shocking that I have to get the council to come and tidy this mess up. I reported it to the police.

"We want to sure this doesn't happen again. The police have been out to a young fella who admitted fully to doing it and was issued with a disturbance notice and a fine.

"He was spoken to in front of his parents and fined for his trouble. So I'm happy with that given he doesn't act up again."
