Watch: Van fire in Redfield forces residents from their homes

A fire broke out from a van and spread to the side of a property - forcing residents out of their homes.

Fire crews from Southmead and Kingswood were called to the incident in Church Road in Redfield in the early hours of this morning (April 22)/

An eyewitness from the scene, Allison, filmed the fire.

Commenting on the fire, she said: "I'd just add that the services were brilliant and managed the whole situation swiftly, it could have been a very different story."

Allison originally tweeted: "Well that was quite a wakeup call!

"Massive thanks to @AvonFireRescue & @ASPolice for their swift action in getting us all awake & safely out of our houses to deal with this fire (next to our house). Bit shaken up but everyone safe & v grateful #keyworkers #thankyou #churchrd#bs5"

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue added: "Crews from Southmead and Kingswood were mobilised at 00:41hrs to reports of a van fire on Church Road, Redfield.

"On arrival, crews found a fire affecting one van and the side of a building.

"The police were in attendance.

"The cause is thought to be accidental."
