Watch: Undrafted RB Elijah Holyfield celebrates signing with the Panthers

After splurging on former AAF players, the Panthers only signed four undrafted free agents this year. The headliner of the group is Elijah Holyfield, Georgia running back and son of the former boxing world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield.

How did Holyfield celebrate signing with Carolina? By doing 254 reps of glute ham raises, one for each player picked ahead of him in the draft.

Holyfield’s stock tumbled when he ran a 4.78 second 40-yard dash at the combine. His game speed leaves much to be desired as well and he only caught seven passes during his college career.

However, Holyfield does show good vision and footwork on film and finishes runs the right way. His power and willingness to battle for extra yards will help him compete with the likes of Elijah Hood and fifth-round pick Jordan Scarlett for a spot below Christian McCaffrey and Cameron Artis-Payne on the RB depth chart.
