Watch: Ukelele playing true freshman kicks 56-yard FG to lift Nevada over Purdue

Brandon Talton was Nevada’s backup kicker. The true freshman from Vacaville, Ca., won’t take a back seat to anyone anymore.

Talton kicked a 56-yard field goal as time expired to give Nevada a stunning 34-31 victory over Purdue on Friday.

His bio:

PERSONAL – Came to Nevada because of the beautiful campus and how welcoming the staff and players were … Most memorable moment of his career came his first game as a (HS) sophomore when he made a field goal, recorded a tackle and made three touch backs … In his free time enjoys hanging out with friends, playing spikeball and playing his ukulele.

The Wolfpack trailed 31-14 before storming back against their Big Ten foe.

They didn’t do themselves any favors, either.

After a TD with less than a minute left brought Nevada within 31-30, the receiver who made the catch, Elijah Cooks, was called for unsportsmanlike conduct for showboating in the end zone.

Talton made the long-distance PAT.

Then, after an interception with 38 seconds left, the Nevada DB was called for unsportsmanlike conduct for showboating, setting the Wolfpack back to their 39.

Nevada somehow was called for delay of game after spiking the ball to stop the clock with nine seconds left. A 17-yard out pattern set the stage for Talton.
