Watch: Trey Sermon speaks to NFL Network about time at Ohio State and the ‘smirk’

Ohio State running back Trey Sermon only spent one season in scarlet and gray, but he certainly made the most of what was an unpredictable season. Coming off an ACL tear and an uncertain future at Oklahoma, Sermon decided to transfer to Ohio State and see if he could make a run with the Buckeyes.

And run he did. After learning to fully trust his surgically repaired knee, Sermon showed up when his team needed him the most. With Master Teague going down in the Big Ten Championship with a concussion, the Oklahoma transfer would go on to break a 25-year-old record for rushing yards in a game once held by Eddie George.

To add to his career day, Sermon helped lead the Buckeyes to victory over Clemson in the Sugar Bowl. His two-game total of 524 rushing yards would be the most in Buckeye history in back-to-back games.

Unfortunately, Sermon was injured in the national title game on the first play from scrimmage. Who knows if a healthy running back group would’ve led to a different outcome against the Crimson Tide.

Now it’s off to the NFL for Sermon. He has made the trip to the Reese’s Senior Bowl even though he won’t be able to play. The guys from the NFL Network caught up with Sermon and asked him about his time in Columbus, his collar bone, and the famous smirk that became a popular meme.

Watch below to see the interview in full.

Wishing Trey Sermon a speedy recovery and much success at the next level.
