WATCH: Travis Kelce, LeSean McCoy execute perfect hook-and-ladder

Expect to hear “That’s exactly how we drew it up” from Andy Reid following the conclusion of the Chiefs vs. Lions game.

The Kansas City Chiefs had a perfectly executed, yet seemingly unplanned hook-and-ladder play against the Detroit Lions. Tight end Travis Kelce caught a 10-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes and, as he was being tackled, he flipped it to running back LeSean McCoy, who took it for an additional 23 yards.

It felt like it was exactly the injection of energy and fun that the Chiefs offense needed to get back on track after struggling throughout the game. Check it out:

Usually plays like this take a lot of practice and are used by design. This one looked like improvised, however, and showed tremendous awareness by McCoy to catch this and turn into an even bigger play. Just a beautiful display of chemistry between these two players.

The playmakers are getting out there and making some plays when the Chiefs need it most. A score later in the drive gave the Chiefs the 27-23 lead over the Lions in a tightly contested game.
