Tony Romo is one of the highest-praised analysts in any NFL booth. His call alongside Jim Nantz of the AFC Championship last season showed off his ability to predict plays with unparalleled accuracy and earned him the highest of praises.
But, CBS may have to replace Romo this Sunday. The 39-year-old former Dallas Cowboys quarterback may still be competing in a golf tournament.
Romo is competing in the PGA Tour’s Safeway Open in a sponsorship exemption and if he makes the cut Friday, he will be absent from the broadcast booth alongside Nantz for his scheduled Sunday game.
The pair is set to call the Minnesota Vikings versus the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, but the Chicago Tribune reports that Boomer Esiason is set to fill in if Romo stays on in contention on the course.
