WATCH: Tom Brady won’t lure Rob Gronkowski out of retirement

Tom Brady sure could use someone like Rob Gronkowski on the field this season, but the Patriots quarterback won’t push for his former teammate to come out of retirement.

In an interview with Boston radio station WEEI on Monday, Brady said, “I don’t lobby for those things,” when discussing Gronkowski’s future in the NFL.

“He’s given a hell of a lot to our team already over a long period of time, and I think people should be very appreciative for what he’s brought to the team and what he’s brought to the region,” Brady elaborated.

The tight end retired in March after nine seasons with the New England Patriots. Injuries were a constant throughout Gronkowski’s pro career, most consistent with his back. He said in August that he would consider returning to the game if he felt the itch to, but that mentally he is not there right now.
