Tennessee Titans first-round pick Isaiah Wilson is a big man at 6-foot-6 and 350 pounds, but don’t get it twisted: the man is still an impressive athlete.
And so much so that he was able to line up as a wildcat quarterback during his high school days, as this video from The Athletic’s Dane Brugler shows.
Having to tackle a man that size just doesn’t seem right. Perhaps the Titans can get him some snaps near the goal line.
While this isn’t the pick that many Titans fans wanted, the truth is athleticism like that is a good fit for the team’s zone-blocking scheme. Wilson also possesses the kind of strength to push defenders around.
So it appears the Titans not only have their right tackle of the future, but perhaps their right tackle of the present, as general manager Jon Robinson stated Wilson would battle for the starting job with Dennis Kelly.
With the first round in the books, the Titans now have six picks remaining in the 2020 NFL Draft, with one selection in the second, third and fifth rounds, as well as three in the seventh.
It’s possible the Titans make a deal to get more picks at some point, but their biggest bargaining chip to do so, the No. 29 overall selection, has been used to add Wilson.
