Watch: Titans’ Derrick Henry still grinding after contract extension

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry held the NFL’s rushing title last year with a total of 1,540 yards, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to take it easy in preparation for the 2020 campaign.

Henry was a huge factor in carrying the Titans’ offense on the ground in 2019, while quarterback Ryan Tannehill got things moving in a once-stagnant passing game, leading to Tennessee securing a playoff berth that turned into a deep postseason run.

The former Alabama standout has been putting in the work once again this offseason — and certainly nothing has changed after Henry and the Titans agreed to a four-year, $50 million contract on July 15.

Clearly, he’s kept at it, as this most recent workout video posted to social media shows.

Last season, Henry carried the ball 303 times for 1,540 yards and 16 touchdowns (he led the league in all three categories), to go with 18 receptions for 206 yards and two scores.

He was also No. 1 in one very particular statistical category that makes his 2019 campaign even more impressive. Henry faced at least eight defenders in the box on a league-leading 188 of his carries, according to Pro Football Focus.

Expect Henry to make his presence known in a big way once more in 2020 as the head of a rushing attack that added rookie back Darrynton Evans.
