NEW DELHI: Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi took 3/32 to bowl India to a 44-run victory over Australia in their second Twenty20 international in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday and give the hosts a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.
India's top-three batsmen scored half-centuries to propel the hosts to 235/4, their highest T20I total against Australia.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal led the way with 53 off 25 balls, while Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan scored 58 and 52, respectively.
In reply, Australia finished on 191/9 in 20 overs. Pacer Prasidh Krishna took 3/41 in four overs.
But it was Bishnoi who took the first two Aussie wickets by striking in his first two overs.
Bishnoi first clean bowled Matthew Short for 19 and in his next over Tilak Varma took a superb catch to dismiss Josh Inglis for 2 in the fifth over of the Aussie run chase.
Bishnoi bowled a fuller, quick delivery and Inglis tried to swing across the line, but not off the middle of the bat but looked like it would clear the infield, but Tilak Varma stretched out and timed the jump perfectly while running backwards from mid-on to give Bishnoi his second wicket.
