WATCH: TikTok shows difficult journey Irish parents went through to go to school ‘back in the day’

A hilarious Irish TikTok shows the “difficult” journey our parents had to make every day to get to school when they were children.

We’ve heard it all before and we dread the story every time, the hardship our auld ones went through to travel - it was like climbing Mount Everest according to some.

And with children going back to school, @2biglugs decided to summarise the relatable tale in a TikTok video.

He captioned it “Am I wrong?”

The video said: “According to my parents this is how they got to school back in their day”.

It shows Adam Kelly leaving his house, he runs down the road, through a forest and jumps out of a ditch.

He then zooms through the fields, ziplines down a clothes line, gets chased by a dog and then swims down a river.

And that’s not it, he has to run up steps before having to run down the road dripping wet.

But when he gets to the finish line of his journey, he realises he has forgotten his school bag.

A third commented: “You forget having to carry the sod of turf for the fire”.
