Watch: this is the terrifying moment a man almost died on Ferry Road in Edinburgh

A man knocked himself unconscious after dodging cars and dashing across Ferry Road in Edinburgh yesterday (16 May), and footage of the shocking near miss was captured on dashcam.

The video shows the man rushing across Ferry Road in Edinburgh on Thursday morning, reports the Daily Record.

First, he runs in front of oncoming traffic and straight into the path of a black Audi, forcing the driver to slam on their brakes and do an emergency stop in front of alarmed passers-by.

The man then can be seen running face-first into a pole on the pavement, knocking himself completely unconscious

Two women rush across to help and as they are first to his side they pull him onto the pavement fully, taking him out of the path of traffic on the main road.

A driver who witnessed the incident said: "At first I heard noises like shouting and then this guy just jumped into the street.

"It was almost as if someone was trying to chase him because he was really rushing. He almost got hit by the car before he ran into the metal pole."

"His eyes were totally rolled over, I think he must have been heavily knocked out."

"As I kept driving I saw police heading quickly towards the scene of the incident and paramedics were also called.

"There was lots of people around him, including a staff member from the local shop."

A large queue of traffic can be seen building up behind the sudden incident.

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene to check the man for head injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that a call was made reporting a man being hit by a car.

Officers were called to attend but no further assistance was required.

The Scottish ambulance service has been contacted for comment.
