Watch Thekla sailing along Bristol harbour

For three months one of Bristol most popular and iconic music venues has been closed to allow for a £1 million refurbishment.

But today workers were able to launch the Thekla along Bristol's harbour as the grand vessel made its way home to be docked between Prince Street Bridge and Redcliffe Way.

In June the famous boat was towed to the grade II listed Albion Dry Dock, next to the SS Great Britain where it had a new steel offset hull welded into place around its existing hull.

Two tugs pulled the Thelka along the habour against the backdrop of Bristol's renowned colourful houses while it sailed to its resting place near the Mud Dock. Lots of onlookers gathered to watch the memorable trip.

The boat started life as a cargo ship and was converted into a theatre by artist and musician Vivian Stanshall before its final reincarnation as a night club.

In 2014 the night club closed for six weeks to allow for another revamp to take place.
