Croydon born Bonkaz grew up at a time in which grime was on the ascent. Now a pioneering newcomer in the grime and UK rap scene himself, the artist’s latest single, You Don’t Know (Bonkaz) samples Dizzee Rascal’s Armand Van Helden produced hit Bonkers, as well as paying tribute to other parts of his musical heritage - including Kano, More Fire Crew and Channel U.
“This song is both an introduction to me and an example of me having fun with the music,” says Bonkaz. “A well known sample that coincidentally has my name in it, it was a no-brainer for me, especially as I grew up on Dizzee Rascal.”
