WATCH: The New York Giants will be the ‘New Jersey Giants’ if Cory Booker is elected president

The New York Football Giants will be the New Jersey Giants if one democratic presidential hopeful takes the White House.

At least, that’s the joke senator (D-NJ) Cory Booker made on the inaugural episode of the Fired Up! Podcast, telling host and former Barack Obama White House aide Brad Jenkins that too many New Jersey teams were snatched up by the Big Apple.

Booker explained, “Should I become president of the United States, and the stars in the universe line up, and my team is the Super Bowl champions that year… I’m telling you, when they’re in the White House, I will turn to the world and say — it won’t be a slip of the tongue — I will say, ‘I am proud to be here with the New Jersey Giants.’”

The stars would indeed have to align, Booker is one of at least two dozen Democrats running for the presidential nomination to be on the ticket in 2020 and the Giants finished last in the NFC East last season and may transition to replacing veteran Eli Manning with rookie Daniel Jones at quarterback this season.
