PEUGEOT has unveiled its new 308 family hatchback – and it’s sure to appeal to many drivers.
As well as a striking road presence, the French marque’s machine will come with an upmarket, roomier, hi-tech cabin and offer hybrid powertrains.
The aerodynamic design includes a deep grille proudly sporting the brand’s new roaring lion head logo, framed by slim LED headlights and trademark vertical daytime running lights.
The tail lights also feature full LED technology and include Peugeot’s iconic three-claw signature. A slightly longer wheelbase and reduction in height give the new 308 a sleeker, more powerful stance.
That also creates more rear passenger space and a useful 412-litre boot, with a maximum capacity of 1323 litres when the back seats are dropped.
Peugeot’s i-Cockpit will grab the attention of those up front and includes a customisable 10in digital cluster at eye level for the driver and small multi-function steering wheel.
Meanwhile, a 10in central touchscreen – with configurable, touch-sensitive i-toggles and advanced voice commands – gives easy access to the new fully connected infotainment set-up and other car systems.
A raft of advanced safety and driver aids are being offered, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, driver attention alert, auto high beam, rear cross traffic alert and emergency call function.
The two new plug-in hybrid powertrains featuring 180 or 150hp petrol engines are both mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Efficient 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel units are also part of the line-up.
The cars will be available to order later in the year, when further details of precise specifications and pricing will become known.
