WHO doesn’t love the idea of bombing about in an iconic Mini?
Well now there is a new kid on the block in the shape of the Mini Remastered Oselli Edition from specialist car makers David Brown Automotive.
It’s a proper pocket rocket, with a 125hp 1450cc engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox that can push it to 62mph in just 7.8 seconds.
Enhancements from UK powertrain tuning aces Oselli Engineering make the car 70 per cent more powerful than the standard model.
Highlights include twin SU carburettors, a limited-slip diff, AP Racing brakes, Bilstein suspension, special exhaust system and 13in wheels fitted with high-speed tyres.
It’s also possible to order this performance Mini with a four-speed automatic transmission and 1380cc engine.
Striking paintjobs offer a choice of grey or off-white with red, blue or green accents, while the grille includes a prominent racing-style 60 – and just 60 Oselli Editions will be built to order.
The contrasting stripes carry through to the interior, while black chrome brightware and hand-enamelled badging complete the exterior.
Deliveries have already begun but buyers can get it as either a four-seater or stripped back for the circuit with two bucket seats, multi-point harnesses and rear roll cage.
Prices are available on application – the standard Mini Remastered starts at about £80,000 – but you’ll enjoy modern LED lights, a leather and Alcantara finish and infotainment system with smartphone connectivity.
Silverstone-based David Brown says the car is as comfortable on city streets as it is on the racetrack. We’d be happy to try it on either.
