Watch the new Ferrari 812 GTS convertible

FERRARI is bringing the V12 Spider back to life 50 years on from the last time one of these sleek convertibles prowled its line-up.

The 800hp 812 GTS is the next in line from the iconic Daytona Spider and uses a front-mounted engine just like its famous ancestor.

The Italian firm says its new drop-top is the most powerful car in its class and comes with a retractable hard-top so it can be used in all weathers.

The roof takes only 14 seconds to raise or lower and works at speeds up to 28mph so you don’t even need to pull over to operate it.

An electric rear screen can be lowered separately or used as a windbreak when the main roof is down.

The 6.5-litre V12 engine revs to a screaming 8900rpm and whisks the GTS from rest to 62mph in 2.9 seconds and on to a hair-wrenching top speed of 212mph.
