CITROEN has unveiled its new flagship C5 X and it has all the trademark innovation, quirkiness and comfort you would expect from the French brand.
The newcomer is a large family crossover that blends saloon, estate and SUV characteristics to deliver both elegance and practicality.
The famous chevron-badged marque says the C5 X will be packed with the latest cutting-edge technology, with a choice of petrol and plug-in hybrid engines.
Set to go on sale in the UK late this year and with full prices and trim details still to be revealed, it is likely to rival offerings such as the Vauxhall Insignia.
The C5 X features a sleek fastback body style, with an emphasis on aerodynamics, while a raised ride height and 19in wheels ensure SUV-like visibility.
Citroen says passengers will enjoy outstanding legroom, while the sensibly shaped boot offers 545 to 1640 litres of loadspace.
An advanced active suspension system and sumptuously comfortable seats, for which the firm is already renowned, ensure a lounge-like experience for those on board.
A host of driver and safety aids include an extended head-up display projected on to the windscreen. Meanwhile, a 12in infotainment screen promises superb connectivity and customisation as well as a digital personal assistant.
An efficient and powerful 225hp plug-in hybrid engine option delivers a zero-emissions range of up to 31 miles – which will meet a huge number of drivers’ daily needs.
