Watch the moment that Rodrigo Vilca netted his first goal for Newcastle United

Rodrigo Vilca netted his first goal for Newcastle United and it was quite the move to open his account on Tyneside.

The 21-year-old midfielder fired home from just inside of the box as the U23s ran out 3-2 victors over Stoke City.

Yannick Toure and Stan Flaherty were also on the scoresheet but it was Vilca who excited most - and was unfortunate not have more than one to his name on what was a bitterly cold night at Whitley Park.

As it was, the Peruvian had to settle for one goal and assist - and posting the effort on Twitter, it was quite an impressive flowing move.

Vilca with one-touch brought the ball down into the path of Jack Young - who on his return from a loan spell at Tranmere captained the side - picked out Flaherty with a superb 40-yard pass before the former Arsenal man picked out Vilca in the centre of the box who had continued his run from his own half.

Vilca took one touch before firing into the corner.

There had been chatter that Vilca may be included in the first-team squad for the game against West Brom but with Steve Bruce telling reporters that '70%' of the team who played against Crystal Palace was available, only Elliot Anderson was missing from the U23s.
