Watch the moment Stockport neighbours discover their huge postcode lottery win

This is the moment six neighbours in Stockport became a lot richer — after winning thousands on the People’s Postcode Lottery.

The neighbours, on Woodhall Crescent, Reddish, have each taken home £30,000 — with the final winner seeing £90,000 come after playing with three tickets in the June 26 draw.

One of the lucky few to claim her share of the £240,000 was Elle Holberry, 60.

Elle found out how much she had won via a video call with a lottery ambassador.

On seeing the amount, she said: “Oh my God. Wow. Lovely! Well done Elle, well done Postcode Lottery!

“I’m over the moon, I can’t tell you. I’m just elated with what I’ve seen.”

The news comes after a difficult year for Elle and her family and she said that the win came at just the right time.

“It means a hell of a lot,” she added. “We’ve had such a bad year, it’s been a rotten 18 months.

Danyl Johnson provided Elle and her neighbours the good news via video call (People's Postcode Lottery)

“I’ve had Covid myself and I’ve been in hospital with it, so it’s not been nice. We’ve lost our mother as well, it’s been horrible. So that now, we can just start to live again a bit.”

Elle said that a well-earned holiday was top of her list on what she’d like to spend the cash on — with Cuba and Thailand favourites of her and husband Steve.

Steve was also elated to find out the good news — when Elle told him about their lucky day, he said: “Brilliant, very good!”

He agreed with his wife’s spending plans: “It’ll be a holiday and maybe a car. We’ve been talking about upgrading.

“I doubt she’ll buy me a new van for work anyway!”

To celebrate, Elle added that their first purchase will be a nice treat for the couple.

The other winners chose to remain anonymous and their winnings will be transferred to their bank accounts.

A minimum of one-third of ticket sales goes directly to charities, and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise over £750 million to date for thousands of good causes across Britain and internationally.

Elle was thrilled to hear about the causes supported by player funding and said: “It’s absolutely great that everyone has contributed to charities along the way. It’s not only us winning the lottery, it’s helping so many charities."
