Watch the moment Smiths guitar legend Johnny Marr joined Supergrass on stage in Manchester

Supergrass were back in Manchester last night as part of their huge reunion tour, which included two nights at the O2 Victoria Warehouse.

The rock stars had a surprise in store for last night's gig-goers though, inviting guitar legend Johnny Marr to join them on stage.

The former Smiths guitarist joined in for two songs at the venue, much to the delight of the crowd - and Supergrass themselves.

He was introduced by frontman Gaz Coombes as 'the nicest f***ing guy you'll ever meet', and welcomed with rapturous applause from the crowd.

Coombes then said: "This is like a dream! Here he is!" before performing a rendition of Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want.

The Supergrass frontman and Marr tag-teamed the lyrics normally performed by Morrissey.

He also stuck around for Sun Hits The Sky.

Fans described the moment on social media, with one saying: "Johnny Marr with Supergrass just blew my mind! What an amazing surprise! This gig is gonna be hard to beat!"

It's becoming a habit of Marr's to make surprise guest appearances at Manchester gigs like this. He's done the same with Primal Scream and even Hans Zimmer in recent years.

Supergrass were supported by Liverpool indie-rockers The Coral.
