Police bodycam footage has revealed the moment a 19-year-old rider realised he would be losing his licence and his bike.
The teenager, who had a provisional licence, was caught overnight allegedly speeding at 162kmh on Adelaide Avenue in Deakin.
Police patrolling the inner south road, which has a posted speed limit of 80kmh, allege they saw a motorcycle travelling south, and well above the limit.
It is alleged the 19-year-old Gordon resident rode dangerously and overtook other vehicles at high speed.
Police stopped the motorcycle, a black Honda CBR1000RR, on Yamba Drive in Garran.
The police officer's bodycam captured the interaction with the teen rider and showed his bike being towed away.
"Driver's licence, mate," the officer said, before adding: "because you've definitely just lost it."
In response, the teenager appears to acknowledge his actions: "Yep ... 100 per cent."
Police suspended the rider's provisional licence for 90 days and sought dashcam footage from anyone who witnessed the motorcycle travelling on Adelaide Avenue or Yamba Drive between 8.30pm and 8.40pm on Wednesday, July 8.
Witnesses have been urged to provide their contact details to Crime Stoppers ACT quoting reference number 8437899.
