Watch the moment Nottingham hospital staff applaud woman as she heads home from critical care

A video has emerged of hospital staff applauding a Nottinghamshire woman who was able to go home after being treated for coronavirus.

Katie Peck, of Colwick, was diagnosed four weeks ago with Covid-19 and ended up on the critical care ward at a Nottingham hospital.

But the NHS Trust has confirmed she was finally able to return home after what she described as a "life-changing" experience.

Ms Peck said: “It felt amazing to be going home again I felt like Paddington bear with my suitcase packed and ready to go.

"The staff who treated me have been amazing and I cannot praise them enough.

“I’m on a road to recovery now and with familiar surroundings and the support from family, friends and professional bodies, I will soon start to feel like me again.

“This experience has been life changing for me, it really puts life into perspective and I will embrace every day now.”

Dilys George, Deputy Sister on the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) said: "It was really good to see Katie get better from this.

"Katie always had a lovely smile for us. It was so good to see her being discharged to the ward and even better to hear she has now gone home."
