Watch the moment Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian suffered freak fan-inflicted injury

The shocking footage that shows goalkeeper Adrian picking up the freak fan-inflicted injury that has left him as a doubt for Liverpool's trip to Southampton has been caught on camera.

In a Twitter video from the UEFA Super Cup taken from behind the Spaniard's goal by Reeaz Ahmed , Adrian is shown celebrating making the match-winning save with his feet from Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham's spot-kick.

He then drops to his knees on the edge of the penalty area before getting back up again to be met by congratulatory hugs from his team-mates and members of Reds staff including manager Jurgen Klopp.

The huddle moves towards the byline before a pitch-invading fan wearing a white t-shirt and denim shorts suddenly appears in view from the right hand side.

A match steward is already hot on the heels of the intruder but he slides two-footed into the melee and, as Klopp revealed, kicked Adrian's ankle.

Caught underneath Liverpool's players, the unwelcome spectator is then fully restrained by the steward who then escorts him away from the scene with the aid of other stadium security personnel.

When asked if Adrian's heroics would be a boost coming in to his new club, Klopp had said: “It would help a lot if it was 100% clear that he could play tomorrow because I really don't understand it in the world of social media when we are all on it together, a supporter jumped over something, was chased by some security guys, slipped, and kicked his (Adrian's) ankle.

“Crazy. Yesterday it was swollen, today I spoke to him, he's here and he told me it's much better than yesterday but we have to see.”
