Watch the moment Labour lose Blyth Valley for the first time ever

It was the moment the first nail was hammered in Labour's coffin.

Blyth Valley, an area as red as they come, turned Tory for the first time as Ian Levy snatched the seat from Labour.

The notion of a mining seat turning blue would once have been the stuff of fantasy. Blyth Valley had belonged to Labour since it was created in 1950.

Labour firebrand Ronnie Campbell, who retired ahead of the election, had held the seat for over 30 years.

He was there in the sports centre to watch it fall into rival hands. One of the first seats to be called, it was also the first to change hands.

Conservative campaigners can be heard cheering as the realise Mr Levy pipped Labour's Susan Dungworth by just over 700 votes.

The dramatic result followed a bundle recount, which was needed due to the tight margins involved.

It slowed down the result, and organisers had hoped to be the first constituency to call a result.
