Watch the moment daredevil circus stuntman falls off motorbike in Globe of Death at Nottingham's Forest Recreation Ground

Video footage has captured the moment a stuntman fell off his bike performing loop-the-loops at high speeds in a circus act.

It happened on Sunday evening, April 21, at the Forest Recreation Ground during the last act of the first half of Continental Circus Berlin.

The act saw two motorcyclists criss-cross each other at high speeds inside a metal sphere named the Globe of Death.

John Haze, director of Continental Circus Berlin, said a bolt came off the man's bike which caused the accident.

"It's an amazing act, a heart in your mouth act really," he said.

"A little piece of the bike has fallen off, hit his wheel, and it's made him crash into the bottom.

"But, thankfully, they basically got up and walked out. He's not hurt, his pride is a bit damaged I think."

He explained it was the last act of the first half of the show.

Circus arrives at Nottingham's Forest Recreation Ground for six day residency

"Luckily no one was hurt," he added.

"Obviously, you're in a circus and a lot of the stuff you see there can be dangerous. But it's all a calculated risk.

"In this case, the calculations proved correct. There's enough safety measures in there to hopefully avoid anything serious happening.

"It just turned out to be a minor thing.

"When something like that happens you worry what has caused it.

"But in this case it was just a very small piece of the mudguard which came off. Now he's reattached it. It's fine again."

The circus has taken place over six days.

Performances started on Wednesday, April 17, through to Monday, April 22.
