Watch the moment bomb disposal experts blew up suspect items on a Gower beach

Bomb disposal units were called to a Gower beach after three suspicious objects were found.

South Wales Police and Oxwich Coastguard Rescue Team arrived at Whiteford Sands after a member of the public came across the suspected ordnance.

Explosive ordnance disposal were alerted to the situation and arrived at the scene at around 9am.

The three items were checked for chemicals and x-rays were also taken before controlled explosions were carried out on two of them.

A spokesman for the Oxwich Coastguard Rescue Team said: "On Tuesday, June 2, at 9am Oxwich Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked to Whiteford Sands for suspected ordnance.

"Upon arrival we met South Wales Police who directed us to the items.

"We took photos and a grid reference and passed them to the Operations Centre at Milford Haven who liaised with the EOD at Hereford."

Controlled explosions were carried out on two of the three items found on the beach (Oxwich Coastguard Rescue Team)

He added: "EOD attended and checked items for chemicals and then took x-rays.

"Two of the three items were then dealt with by means of a controlled explosion.

"In an emergency on the coast you should phone 999 and ask for the Coastguard."

It is not yet known what the three objects were.

South Wales Police confirmed that officers attended the scene on Tuesday morning.
