THIS is the all-new McLaren Artura – a plug-in hybrid supercar that starts a new electric era for the British marque.
Priced from £185,000, the luxury performance brand’s latest machine is as potent as its stunning aerodynamic design suggests.
Ferocious acceleration sees it sprint to 62mph in just 3.0 seconds and go on to an electronically limited top speed of 205mph.
The eye-watering pace is achieved by a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine and an electric motor hooked up to a 7.4kWh battery that develop a combined 680PS.
Added to the mix is an eight-speed sequential sports gearbox and a choice of four drive modes – electric, comfort, sport and track.
The economy stats are also impressive, with an electric-only range of 19 miles, average fuel economy in excess of 50mpg and CO2 emissions of just 129g/km.
Helping the Artura achieve such a superb performance is the clever use of aluminium and carbon fibre, so it has a kerb weight of just 1498kg – the lightest in its class.
Inside, owners will find a hi-tech eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system and driver aids such as adaptive cruise control with stop/go, lane departure warning and high-beam assist.
