Watch the McLaren 765LT Spider

McLAREN says the new 765LT Spider is its most powerful-ever convertible supercar and provides the highest-ever levels of driver engagement.

The luxury performance motor brand’s exclusive newcomer is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that develops a whopping 765PS and 800Nm of torque.

That propels the LT Spider to 62mph in just 2.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 205mph – it covers a quarter of a mile in just 10 seconds.

Comfort, Sport and Track modes that adjust transmission and suspension characteristics further enhance the experience.

And the electrically operated, one-piece, carbon-fibre, retractable hard top lowers or raises in just 11 seconds at speeds of up to 31mph.

A powered rear window also allows the searing LT soundtrack from the titanium quad exhaust system to be enjoyed to the full, even with the roof in place.

High-performance, lightweight materials feature throughout, with advanced carbon-fibre technologies used for body components, and the car weighs just 1388kg.

That gives the Spider a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 598PS per tonne at its lightest dry weight.

It comes with the same carbon-fibre aerodynamic package as the coupe but with an active rear wing calibrated for roof-up/roof-down positions.

A motorsport-inspired interior with racing seats is finished with carbon fibre and lightweight Alcantara. Air conditioning and an audio system are not included as standard, to save weight, but can be specified at no additional cost.

Priced from £310,500, availability is limited to just 765 cars for customer order worldwide, with 2021 production already all sold.

McLaren Automotive boss Mike Flewitt said: “As we continue to build the LT sub-brand, it’s clear that our customers are increasingly attracted to the Longtail supercar proposition of exhilarating, extreme performance and limited availability.”
