Watch the incredible moment Lewis Ritson walked to the ring to the Blaydon Races

This is the moment Lewis Ritson got 9,000 adoring supporters on their feet.

The Geordie boxer's signature ring walk has become a staple of his fights and it didn't disappoint on Saturday night.

He stepped out to the tune of the Blaydon Races in front of 9,000 fans to take on Robbie Davies Jr at the Newcastle Utilita Arena.

It has become a fixture of his pre-fight routine and the crowd went wild for it.

The Forest Hall-born fighter - who is known as the Sandman - is a die hard Newcastle United fan and sports the club crest pretty much wherever he goes.

A rowdy home crowd got to their feet to sing the fighter out to the Geordie anthem.

The fight against Davies Jr marks his first bout on home turf since he suffered a points defeat to Francesco Patera back in October 2018.
